I always wonder about this rooted problem. This rooted problem is “Human trafficking” .Of course many of you already know about it. Some of you might felt disgust about it and some of you have seen it in movie may be some of you read about it.

What is Human Trafficking?

Let me define it in layman language, Delivering human forcefully or in illegal way to get them engage into slavery, prostitution, child labor, and many other inhuman activities.

Human trafficking as defined by the UN is, “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or service, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs.”

Have you ever think that how below mentioned person reach at this position:

-Child who is working on tea stall/factory/shops
-A domestic helper at houses who works longer hours
-Girls/woman who works in prostitution
-Children who work in bangle/silk or brick factory
-Children who beg on traffic signal or at temple

These are the human who are victims of human trafficking.

Who can be victims of human trafficking?
-Children of poor family
-Girls who has got married at early age
-Kids of those families who sent them for earning purpose
-Kids who has ran away from home due to any reason
-Kidnapped children including male or female
-Girls from small cities who looks better opportunities and easy way to earn
-Girls ran away by trusting stranger for sake of love

Due to media, we know how people involve in human trafficking lure the victims. Sometime they works as placement agency who places victims as domestic help or other jobs  or sometime they get married to victim and then push them in prostitution or many other ways.

So what we can do to help it?
We can’t do everything but we can do something:
-By saying No to prostitution
-By saying No to child domestic labor
-By saying No to buying domestic help
-Bu doing proper background check before keeping any domestic help using placement agencies
-By reporting child labor case which we observed around us
-By Not using children or women as materialistic way for self benefit
-By helping saving kids/women form sexual abuse
-By being little more sensitive in actions instead of discussing
-By giving proper learning to our kids and family
-By respecting others instead of judging them on basis of their social or gender status
-By accepting the people socially who are rescued by human trafficking
